printing, and dyeing including techniques such as Japanese traditional Yuzen, Batik,
Stencil, Tie-Dye.
Kumiko became involved in costume design came after a third-year student fashion

After graduating from Tama Art University, Kumiko moved to London and studied design, making, pattern, and theatre history as part of the BA (Hons) Costume Design for Performance Art course at London College of Fashion, and subsequently MA Costume Design at the same college, where she honed her technical skills and developed a unique, deeply-considered conceptual style.
Since starting her career, Kumiko has worked as an assistant to international artist Lucy Orta, with theatre designer Dick Bird, and has created a collection for a fashion designer Walid Al Damirji. Kumiko has designed and made costumes for the musical Joseph, performances at The Globe Theatre, Barbican Theatre, the Nottinghill Carnival, Aldeburgh Music Carnival, and many other productions.
